Roger Lynn Yoakum, age 61, of Dixon, was born on September 10, 1962, at Rolla, a son of William Roger and Betty Joann (Dressendofer) Yoakum and passed from this life on Sunday, June 16, 2024, in the University Hospital, Columbia.
Roger was united in marriage on July 19, 1986, at St. Charles, to Susan Gail Gerschefske and to this union, two children were born.
Roger was baptized early in life and was a faithful member of the Santee Community Church near Dixon where he had served as the former president of the church board. Roger was longtime owner and operator of Yoakum Furs and Roots. It was a family business that he had with his grandfather, Willie, his dad, Roger, Sr., and his brother, Matt. In his spare time Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. His favorite and most cherished time was being with his beloved little buddy, Paxton.
Those left to mourn the passing of Roger include: his wife, Susan Yoakum; his son, Ryan Yoakum; his daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Tim Williams; his grandson, Paxton, and another grandchild expected in October; brothers, Stanley Yoakum and Matthew Yoakum; his sister-in-law, Debi Gravemann and her husband, Ron; and many other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, William Roger and Betty Yoakum and his grandparents, William "Willie" and Leatha Yoakum and Ernest and Inez Dressendofer.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024 with his funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024 in the Santee Community Church, 20174 MO-133, Dixon, Missouri.
Interment will be in the Hughes Cemetery, near Dixon under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home, Dixon.
Memorials may be made in Memory of Roger L. Yoakum to the Hughes Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund or per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the church or may be sent to the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home, P.O. Box GG, Dixon, MO 65459.
