Obituary

Ronald Lee "Marty" Monell, of Crocker, was born on June 4, 1962, at Fort Riley, Kansas a son of Ralph and Freida May (Kelly) Monell, and departed this life at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at his residence in Crocker. Marty had attained the age of 53 years, 1 month and 24 days.

Marty was preceded in death by his father, Ralph on August 8, 2013 and two brothers, an infant Thaddeus Elmer Monell and William Kelly Monell on February 25, 2004.

Marty had attended the Assembly of God Church, Crocker and had worked as a long shore man in the engine rooms of many different ships. His job afforded him to be able to travel on the ocean that he so dearly loved. In his spare time, Marty enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, searching for arrowheads and watching his nephew play baseball.

Those left to mourn the passing of Marty include: his mother and step-father, Freida and Wayne Pursley, Crocker; his step-mother, Norma Monell, Houston Texas; two sons, Timothy and Anthony; two daughters: Brittany and Makaila; three sisters, Cherry Pursley, Crocker; Sharon Brunston, Palestine, Texas and Jeana George, Crocker; step-sister, Sandy DeClue; step-brothers, Bud Pursley, John Pursley, Ronnie Pursley and David Pursley; his step brother and step-sisters from Houston, Texas, Carl, Sandy and Brenda; ten grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Marty at 12:00 noon on Monday, August 3, 2015, in the Assembly of God Church, Crocker with Pastor Michael Davis officiating.

Interment was in the Assembly of God Cemetery, Crocker under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Marty were Caleb Sharpensteen, Joshua Sharpensteen, Anthony Wright, Brandon Gibler, Chris Carson, Cody Carson, and Bud Pursley. Honorary pallbearer was Steve Nichols.

Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family with envelopes available at the Assembly of God Church, Crocker or the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
