Ronald James "Ronny" Skaggs, of Crocker, was born on December 1, 1946, at Waynesville, a son of Jim and Kathryn Lucille (Jones) Skaggs and departed this life at 7:32 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2020 in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Mr. Skaggs had attained the age of 73 years, 2 months and 25 days.
Mr. Skaggs was united in marriage on February 13, 1971, in the First Baptist Church, Crocker to Miss Elizabeth Ann Hendricks and to this union, one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his father, Jim on May 17, 2014 and his mother, Kathryn on December 31, 1991.
Mr. Skaggs was a United States Army veteran. Early in his career, Ronny and Beth were owner and operators of Ronny's Super Way and Save A Lot in Crocker and St. Robert. He later taught one year of school at Swedeborg and then began his career in banking as a loan officer and Vice President, retiring in 2012 from the Armed Forces Bank at Ft. Leonard. He enjoyed farming, his cattle, hunting and fishing.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Skaggs include: his beloved wife, Beth Skaggs of Crocker; his daughter and son-in-law, Jamey and Deric Heislen, Jefferson City; two grandchildren, Drew and Carter Heislen; two brothers, his twin Donny Skaggs and his wife Chun, Las Vegas and Kim Skaggs and his wife Ruth, Blue Springs; his nephews, Chris Skaggs, Joel Glen Alexander and Bill Hancock; his nieces, Sarah Skaggs and Debbie Taylor; several great-nephews and great-nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. with the funeral service for Mr. Skaggs at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker with Pastor Doug Jacobson, Eureka Baptist Church, Richland officiating, followed by full military honors.
Burial will be held at a later date in the Crocker Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers for Mr. Skaggs were Don Mihalevich, Ron Ferguson, John Wayne Routh, Gary Thornsberry, Eric Schwandt, Greg Black, Chris Skaggs, Ron Taylor, Joel Glen Alexander, Davey Groves, Gary Groves and Danny Roam.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Missouri Department of Conservation Kids Fishing and Youth Hunting Clinics with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
