Obituary

Shawn Ray Brown, age 58, of Dixon, was born on March 12, 1968, at Columbia, Missouri, a son of Dudley Ray Brown and Nancy Elzada (Helton) Brown and passed from this life on Friday, May 1, 2026 at his residence in Dixon.

Shawn was united in marriage on March 28, 2026, at Dixon to Joenell Marie Nerche. He was preceded in death by his father, Dudley Brown and his father who raised him, T.J. Howden; one brother, Kyle Brown and one sister, Amy Shoemaker.

Shawn  had attended the Seaton Faith Fellowship Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool and dancing.

Shawn was a United States Army veteran. During his military career he was awarded and entitled to wear the Southwest Asia Service Medal; Bronze Service Star; two Army Commendation Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Overseas Service Ribbon; Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle and the Combat Infantry  Badge. SP4 Brown's Honorable Discharge is a testimonial of honest and faithful service to his country.

Those left to mourn the passing of Shawn include: his wife, Joenell Brown; his mother, Nancy Howden; four sons, Dakota Brown, Mathew Brown, Grant McMurry and Cayden Brown; step-son, Kenny Smith and his wife, Kamilah; one step daughter, Holly Green and her husband, Justin; two brothers, Shane Brown and Kelsey Brown;  two sisters, Sheryl Bailes and Sonja Brown;  two grandchildren, Ronnie Brown and Freya Brown and one expected in the near future and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held for Shawn from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026 with his funeral service following at 11 a.m., all in the Dixon Chapel of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home, Dixon.

Interment with full military honors will be in the Seaton Cemetery near  Dixon, under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Parkinson Foundation with envelopes available at the funeral home or in c/o Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home, P.O. Box GG, Dixon, MO  65459.
