Shelby Cleo Chapman, of Crocker, was born June 1, 1940, at Broken Bow, Oklahoma, a son of Velton Lonzer and Ruby Lee (Bray) Chapman, and departed this life at 2:30 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center Rolla. Mr. Chapman had attained the age of 72 years and 24 days.
Mr. Chapman was first united in marriage to Georgia Meredith Camp, who preceded him in death; he was later united in marriage on February 11, 1995, at Crocker, to Hazel Eileen Moore. In addition to his first wife he was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Velton Chapman, Jr.; and one sister, Bobbie Mitchell.
He was a member of the Crocker Assembly of God Church and was a United States Army veteran. He had been an independent over the road truck driver for many years.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Chapman include: His wife, Eileen Chapman of the home in Crocker; one step-daughter, Kay Martin, Rocky Mounty; one step son, Randall Clinkenbeard, Summersville; one brother, Don Chapman, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Hilda Busby, Oracle, Arizona; and Johnice Chapman, Searchlight, Nevada; and other relatives and friends.
Graveside Funeral Services with full military honors will be conducted for Mr. Chapman at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012, in Mount Union Cemetery, near Brumley. All arrangements under the direction of the Crocker Chapel of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremations Service.
