Sidney A. "Sid" Dickerson, III, of Dixon, was born on November 6, 1938, at Sedalia, a son of Sidney A., II and Frances (Busker) Dickerson and departed this life at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at his residence near Dixon. Sid had been in failing health for some time and had attained the age of 78 years, 5 months, and 12 days.
Sid was united in marriage on August 8, 2006, to Shirley Ann Campbell. He was preceded in death by one son, Dustin Dickerson; one daughter, Kimberly Dickerson; his father, Sidney A. Dickerson, II and his mother, Frances.
Sid had worked as a welder and was a member of the Boilermaker's Union Local 374, Hammond, Indiana. He enjoyed scuba diving, competing in local car races, was a snow skier and he loved to fish and had won a Cohoe fishing tournament on Lake Michigan.
Those left to mourn the passing of Sid include: his wife, Shirley Dickerson, Dixon; one son and daughter-in-law, Sid IV and Denise Dickerson, New Iberia, Louisiana; two daughters and one son-in-law, Robin and Bob Black, Hobart, Indiana and Gina Dickerson, Portage, Indiana; one brother, Rodney Dickerson, state of Indiana; one sister, Sharon Marcinek, state of Michigan; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nephews; nieces; cousins and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Sid at 12:00 noon, Friday, April 21, 2017, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with the Rev. Gary Belk, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Dixon officiating.
Interment was in the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Sid were Jake Lebioda, Michael Williams, Thomas Campbell, Kirk Carson, J.R. Black and Sidney E. Dickerson, IV. Honorary pallbearers were Harry Gray, Mike Hughes and Michael Bexten.
Memorials are suggested by the family to the Draum Museum, Sedalia with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
