Obituary

Steven Martin, born October 2, 1963, at Aurora, Colorado, a son of James and Gertrud (Dusel) Martin and died on June 10, 2022, surrounded with love and comforted by his family holding his hands, when he joined the Lord.

He is survived by his four siblings, Alan Martin of Holts Summit, MO, Susan Schoen (John Schoen) of Rolla, MO, Dr. James Martin (Sherry Martin) of Pensacola FL, and Debbie Wink of Springfield MO, four nieces (Jenny Schellingberger, Jill French, Jessica Martin, and Jade Martin), two nephews (Robert Klawitter and Rick Klawitter), with two great-nephews (Alec and Nick Shelton), along with extended family members and his friends from Dixon, that to him, were family.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, James K. Martin and Gertrud Martin, along with his uncle David Martin.

Steven loved his family and friends more than anything. And one of his most precious companions, was his dog Lucky, who he adored for over 11 years before Lucky passed. He enjoyed working on cars, buying cars, and looking at cars! As a young man, he loved building toy model cars and continued collecting them throughout his life. In fact, his house was full of antiques and oddities. When he operated his auto parts business, he would often let people pay on credit, so they could get the things they needed because he was always willing to help someone in need. He was generous, compassionate, and never met a stranger. Some of his favorite moments were shared with friends and family on special occasions, fish-fries, barbecues, and birthday parties. He got a kick out of winning money at his favorite hang-out spot on those second-chance machines and thought he was pretty lucky! But those of us who loved him, felt like the lucky ones. His contagious smile, goofy faces he'd make, and silly laugh held our hearts. We will never forget Steven and will cherish all the memories we made together.
