Thomas "Tom" Finn Becherer, of Jerome, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis, Mo. departed this life on Monday, November 18, 2019. He was born on September 18, 1926 in St. Louis to Virgil and Loretta (Finn) Becherer.
Tom enlisted with the United States Marine Corps 1 st Marine Division, 7 th Regiment, 1 st Battalion, Able Company, 3 rd Platoon during World War II, serving honorably as a Corporal in the South Pacific Theater and as a Sergeant against enemy forces in the Korean War in the Battle of The Chosin Reservoir, known as the "Frozen Chosin".
Tom retired as a meat cutter with Local 88-St. Louis in 1985. Following his retirement, he moved to Central Missouri to fulfill his dream of being a cowboy, where he enjoyed working cattle, farming and agriculture.
Tom was the former husband to Rose Lee (Fennewald) who proceeded him in death. He is remembered by his children: Thomas F.II & Barbara Becherer, Mary & Richard Davis, Michael & Cheryl Becherer, Joseph & Jennifer Becherer and Anne Becherer; His sister, Jane (Jack) Williams. Nephews: Clarence "Skip" & Brenda Fennewald, John (Caren) Williams and Thomas Williams; his grandchildren: Kate & TJ, Caroline, Thomas F.III, Tyler, Dylan, Cade, Lauren, Brandon, Travis, Great-grandchild: Thomas Jeffery and many, many friends.
Tom is also remembered by extended family members: Lt. Governor Mike & Claudia Kehoe and their children Carol, Michael, Maggie and Claire, Bruce & Celeste Miedema, Matt & Mandy Brookshire, Bryan & Cyndy Parker, Tom & Janet O'Connell and Cameron Smith.
A celebration of life Mass for Tom will be held Monday, November 25, 2019 at 10:30 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Dixon, Missouri.
Interment with full Military Honors will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Waynesville, MO. under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon, MO.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Liesmann-Roberts American Legion Post No. 298, Dixon, MO.
