Travis Leon Gilstrap, 85, of Crocker, was born on August 01, 1936 at Hermleigh, Texas, the son of Mirtha and Alton Gilstrap. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at home, with his loving wife, Dorothy.  He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

Travis was a proud retired combat veteran of the United States Navy enlisting at the age of 17. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. As a flight engineer, he travelled all over the world. Upon retirement, his thirst for adventure continued as he spent time camping, panning for gold, motorcycling and travelling. He worked at Folsom Prison, became a real estate agent and was an engineer at nuclear power plants across this nation. He loved this great country.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crocker and cherished every one of his family and friends. A humble man, he dearly loved God. He liked reading and enjoyed the book club. He truly enjoyed working with his hands carving wood, stone, making furniture and restoring antiques. He was always eager to attend a good auction.

He will be missed by his wife, Dorothy (Fincher) Gilstrap; his sister, Beverly Beatty; children, Donald Gilstrap and wife Dawn, Theresa Lewellyn, Michael Gilstrap and wife Jean, Debbie Stogner and husband Brandon, Gerald Shaw; nephew, Frank Foster and wife Connie; grandchildren, Christina Lanning and husband Earl, Travis Gilstrap and wife Jeannie, Kelsey Deaton, Melissa Gilstrap, Raeanna Gilstrap, Garrett Shaw, Madison Wooley, Grant Wooley, Tawnya Settle; great-grandchildren Alexis, Peyton, Audree, Maddy, Logan, Kyler and Josh; and many more nieces, nephews and loved ones.

At Travis' request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, he asked that family and loved ones go on an adventure when they are able.
