Truman "Mac" McAlpin, of Crocker, was born on April 11, 1946 at Memphis, Tennessee, a son of Vestus and Lucy (Doyle) McAlpin and departed this life on Friday, October 18, 2019 at his residence. Mac had attained the age of 73 years, 6 months and 7 days.
Mr. McAlpin was united in marriage on December 16, 1994, at Hawkeye to Marilyn Jean Wall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vestus and Lucy McAlpin; two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. McAlpin was a retired United States Army veteran, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his military career he was awarded and entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Ribbon; Drivers Badge and the Marksman Qualification Badge M16. Following his military career, he had worked at Fort Leonard Wood and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4956, Crocker.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. McAlpin include: his wife, Marilyn McAlpin, Crocker; one son, Michael McAlpin, of Tennessee; on step-son, Mark (Amy) Fancher, Crocker; one daughter, Wanda Kay (Roger) King of Tennessee; one step-daughter, Jeanne (James) Mason, Crocker; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be for Mr. McAlpin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel with Pastor Robin Salsman, First Baptist Church, Crocker officiating.
Interment with full military honors will be held in the Iberia City Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. United States Army personnel will serve as pallbearers for Mr. McAlpin.
Memorial contributions are suggested per the wishes of the family in memory of Mr. Truman "MAC" McAlpin with envelopes available at the office of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
