Velma Jane Morris, of Belton, formerly of Crocker, was born on November 30, 1925, in Pulaski County, a daughter of John and Helen (Whalen) Hamilton and departed this life at 4:33 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2019, in the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Home, Belton. Mrs. Morris had attained the age of 93 year, 4 months and 16 days.

Mrs. Morris was united in marriage on April 14, 1949, at Crocker, to James Jackson Morris and to this union, two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 18, 1994; her son, David Lee Morris on September 23, 2014; her parents, John and Helen Hamilton; two brothers, Norman Hamilton and Dale Hamilton; and four sisters, Erma Salveter, Mary Hamilton, Erelene Thornsberry and Evelyn Deardeuff. She was the last living child from the union of John and Helen Hamilton.

Mrs. Morris had attended the Sweet Home Church, Crocker and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed fishing, loved gardening and was a member of the Green Thumb Garden Club where she often won Yard of the Month.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Morris include: her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Florenda Morris, Belton; two grandsons, Shane Morris and his wife, Jennifer and Lance Morris and his fiancé, Kristen Benes; step-daughter, Loretta Leifert; three great-grandchildren, Westyn, Landyn and Bryson; nephews; nieces and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials are suggested by the family to the Loving Paws Animal Shelter in Crocker or to the American Lung Association with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
