Obituary

Victor "Vic" Hubert Matlock, 72, of Dixon, was born on December 31, 1949, at Eureka, Kansas, a son of Orville L. and Joyce (Owen) Matlock Stuck and departed this life at 11:21 a.m., Sunday, September 4, 2022 in the Mercy Hospital, Springfield.

Vic was united in marriage on November 3, 1973, at Edgewood, Maryland to Miss Ronalee Marie Rynning and to this union, two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy Wheat.

Vic's military career began in 1969 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma when he enlisted in the United States Army. Some of his awards he was entitled to wear  were the National Defense Service Medal (2); the Army Service Ribbon; the Army Achievement medal (4); Overseas Service Ribbon (3); Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3); Army Commendation Medal (2); Army Good Conduct Medal (7); Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; Air Force Organizational Excellence Award; Armed Forces Expeditionary; and the Meritorious Service Medal. A man of excellent character, SFC Matlock was honorably discharged in 1992, and retired after serving over 22 years in the United States Army.

Vic was a member of the Burnett Church near Dixon and a former member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Following his military career, he drove a school bus for 17 years, worked at the golf course and then several years for Country Mart. He was also a member of the VFW; the American Legion; the Dixon Fire Department; was a board member of the Dixon Cemetery Association and the Dixon Ambulance Board. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and reading.

Those left to mourn the passing of Vic include: his wife, Ronalee Matlock; his mother-in-law, Rosilee Rynning; his sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Joni Matlock and Travis and Tina Matlock, all of Dixon; his grandchildren, Tristin, Jenna, Jace, Travin and Tratin; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 10, 2022 in the Burnett Church with Pastor Danny Bassett and David Hokanson officiating.

Interment with full military honors will be the Dixon Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the American Diabetes Foundation with envelopes available at the Burnett Church or the office of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
