Violet June Dake, of Winfield, formerly of Dixon, was born on September 18, 1930 in Maries County, a daughter of Kimbro and Doshey (Humphrey) Messersmith and departed this life at 11:11 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2015, in the Elsberry Health Care Center, Elsberry. Mrs. Dake had attained the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 13 days.
Mrs. Dake was united in marriage on June 6, 1949, at Iberia, to Wayde Aaron Dake and to this union, two children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 2, 2014 and her parents.
Mrs. Dake retired from Rite Point Pen Manufacturing in Crestwood as well as being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed attending the Church of God, sewing, quilting, embroidering and working in her flower garden.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Dake include: one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barbara Dake, Imperial; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Steve Perry, Winfield; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Dake at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Pastor Lloyd Mattocks, Lighthouse Worship Center, Dixon officiating.
Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Dake were Matt Perry, Jeff Dake, Jeffery Dake, Kevin Rowden, William Dake and Bobby Spurgeon. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Rankin, Timmy Dake, Mark Wiles, Gene Sauls, Randy Rankin, George Gaskins, Greg George, Danny Patterson and Doug Hollie.
