Virginia Lou
Skaggs
Dec 27, 1926 — Apr 21, 2018
Virginia Lou Skaggs, of Crocker, entered the presence of her Heavenly Father on April 21, 2018.
She was born in Crocker, Missouri, on December 27, 1926, to Dewey and Mabel (Thornsberry) Williams. After graduating Valedictorian of her class from Crocker High School in 1944, Virginia worked at Sharp's Grain and Supply, Crocker. Later in her life, Virginia became the bookkeeper and office manager for Skaggs Furnace Company, working alongside her husband Jack.
Virginia married Charles (Jack) Skaggs on June 13, 1946. After their marriage, the young couple moved to Tulsa where Jack worked for the Frisco Railroad. After Virginia and Jack returned to Crocker to be close to their families, Virginia became a full-time house wife and mother.
Virginia was known for her outstanding cooking talents. She was featured in an article "Homemaker of the Week." Her coconut cream and chocolate pies were always in demand for church dinners and functions.
Her best known talent, however, was her role model as a Christian mother. She instilled in all her children the importance of keeping God as the center of the family and always giving her children unconditional love and acceptance. Her role as Grandmother continued to provide the legacy of love and acceptance. She received the most joy when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to spend time with her. She loved hearing about all their activities and was so proud of all their accomplishments.
Before her death, she was recognized as the longest living member of the Crocker First Baptist Church – 1937 – 2018, 81 Years. Virginia taught Sunday School, was the church organist for many years, and was always ready to help the church in whatever capacity whenever her help was needed.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jack; her parents; one brother, Harold; and two grandsons, Beau Skaggs and Jaythan Skaggs.
She is survived by daughter, Beth Hardesty and husband, Tim; sons, Bill Skaggs and wife, Beth and Jim Skaggs and wife, Dorothy; son, Jeff Skaggs and daughter, Jill Skaggs. Virginia is also survived by five grandchildren, Holli Bryant, Kelli Hardesty, Kimberly Henson, Jeremy Skaggs, Jacklyn and Andrew Skaggs; four great-grandchildren, Maddi Bryant, Landin and Abbie Henson and Jayse Skaggs; one sister-in-law, Myrtle Skaggs Fiore; several nieces and nephews and a community of friends.
Virginia was blessed to remain in her home her last years because of the love and care of her dearest friend and care giver, Irene Tindel. Irene gave the family the most precious gift of several more years with their Mother because of her loving care.
Virginia will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her kind and gentle spirit, and her ability to give unconditional love.
The family ask that you honor Virginia's memory by maintaining connections with your family, try to mend any bonds that may be broken, and love without reservation, condition, or fear.
Memorials are suggested by the family to the Richland Care Center with envelopes available at the First Baptist Church, Crocker or the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
