Warren Harding Hollis, of Crocker, was born on October 22, 1921, in Maries County, a son of Robert E. and Sarah (Creech) Hollis, and departed this life at 8:20 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2014, in the Life Care Center of Waynesville. Mr. Hollis had attained the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 1 day.
Mr. Hollis was united in marriage on October 22, 1953, at Brumley, to Wilma Helen Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife on February 2, 2001; his parents; one son, Edward Nelson; two brothers, Euell Hollis and Robert Hollis and three sisters, an infant at birth, Evelyn Rigsby and Gladys Ritchie.
Mr. Hollis was a member of the Dixon Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a civil service employee, working as a carpenter as well as being a local farmer. Mr. Hollis enjoyed gardening, raising cattle and just being on his farm.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Hollis include: three sons, Jim Hollis and Earl Nelson, both of Crocker and Will Nelson, Chesterfield; one daughter, Mary Ann Hollis, Aurora, Colorado; one brother, Floyd Hollis; three sister, Sadie Rowden and twins, Helen and Allie Hollis; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Hollis at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, with Bro. Jarred Harp, Dixon Church of Christ, officiating.
Interment was in the Zion Cemetery near Crocker, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Crocker. Pallbearers for Mr. Hollis were Rodney Yoakum, Joe Hollis, J.D. Fritchey, Kevin Sinden, John Curtman and Jon Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers were Calvin Penland, Don Crews, Farris Dake, Frank Singleton, Donald Robertson and Virgil Rigsby.
Memorials are suggested by the family to the Zion Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker.
