Warren Cooper, Jr., age 86, of Dixon, was born on July 23, 1937, at Liberty, Missouri, the oldest of four sons of Warren, Sr. and Dora (Fisher) Cooper and passed from this life on Saturday, June 15, 2024, near Dixon.
Warren married the love of his life, JoAnn (Jodi) Woodard on May 31, 1970, they shared 54 years together and raised five children, Kim, Mitch, Melody, Mark, and Katie (granddaughter).
Warren was baptized in 1970 and at the time of his passing was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church, St. Robert.
Warren joined the United States Army in September 1955, and was honorably discharged in September of 1958 having attained the rank of SP4. During his working life, he worked as a firefighter at Ft. Leonard Wood, retiring in 1992, after 30 years. He continued working and was employed in the bakery at Wal-Mart in St. Robert, and later for a welding shop in Iberia.
Warren was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hiking, fishing, and going on adventures with his grandsons. He could also be found working in his garden, canning what he grew, and often times giving away his garden harvest to his many friends.
Warren is survived by his wife, Jodi of the home near Dixon; two daughters, Kim Keyes and husband, Jim, Fulton, and Katie Marlatt and husband, Mike, St. James; brothers, Doug (Priscilla) Cooper of Star City, Arkansas, Dan (Wanda) Cooper of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and David (Debbie) Cooper of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Joshua (Desirae) Mott, Amanda (Brent) Stieferman, Justin (Chelsea) Keyes, Chester Patterson, Hannah Mott, Christopher Stevens, Ausitn, Blake, and Luke Marlatt; many nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Warren, Sr. and Dora Cooper; two sons, Mark Cooper and Mitch Tucker; one daughter, Melody Tucker; one grandson, Derek Parker and one nephew, Nathan Cooper.
Visitation will be held for Warren from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024, in the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel at 205 W. Third St., Dixon, and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of his funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, in the Maranatha Baptist Church at 200 Acorn Drive, St. Robert, with Pastor Keith Carnahan officiating.
Interment with military honors will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2024 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 25350 Highway H, Waynesville. A luncheon will be served at the church following the burial.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Maranatha Baptist Church in Memory of Mr. Warren Cooper, Jr., with envelopes available at the funeral home or at the church the day of the service.
