Obituary

Wayde Aaron Dake, of Troy, formerly of Dixon, was born on November 8, 1928, at Iberia, a son of Willard M. and Linnie (Rowden) Dake, and departed this life at 2:06 a.m., Sunday, March 2, 2014, in the Troy Manor Nursing Home, Troy. Mr. Dake had suffered from Alzheimers for several years and had attained the age of 85 years, 3 months, and 22 days.

Mr. Dake was united in marriage on June 6, 1949, at Iberia, and to this union, two children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister, Priscilla Mae Dake.

Mr. Dake served in the United States Army from March 1948 until March 1953, having served in Korea. He was an Auto Mechanic most of his adult life, later owning his own business in the St. Louis Area. He retired in 1991 and returned to the Dixon area in 1993. Mr. Dake loved to travel in his motor home or the 5th wheel camper and enjoyed camping at Roaring River. He had numerous classic cars, loved to fly airplanes and was a student pilot. Mr. Dake was a member of the American Legion Post No. 298, Dixon and had attended the Church of God Dixon, where he sometimes sang and played the guitar.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Dake include: his wife of 64 years, Violet Dake of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Barbara Dake, Camdenton; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Steve Perry, Winfield; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Gerald and Jo Dake, St. Robert; Donley Dake, Dixon and David Dake, Doolittle; six sisters and five brothers-in-law, Lola and Harold Sauls, Jefferson City; Naomi Barton, West Plains; Ruth and Allen Wiles, Fenton; Jane and Don Rankin, Cortez, Colorado; Kate and Bob Leonard and Patsy and Bob Rowden, all of Dixon; four grandchildren; one step-grandson; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; Nephews; Nieces; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mr. Dake at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon, with Pastor Lloyd Mattocks, Lighthouse Worship Center, Dixon, officiating. Pam George sang "Precious Memories" and "Sheltered in the Arms of God".

Interment with full military honors was in the Wheeler Cemetery near Dixon, under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Dake were Matt Perry, Jeff Dake, Jeffery Dake, Kevin Rowden, William Dake and Bobby Spurgeon. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Rankin, Timmy Dake, Mark Wiles, Gene Sauls, Randy Rankin, George Gaskins, Greg George, Danny Patterson and Doug Hollie.

Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to the Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Dixon.
