Obituary

William Sidney "Sid" Stewart, age 82, of Dixon, was born on April 6, 1942, at Rolla, a son of Everett Lee and Julia (Woods) Stewart and passed from this life on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at his residence.

Sid was united in marriage on December 30, 1966, at Newburg, to Miss Mary Darlene Wilson, and to this union, three children were born.

Sid was a United States Navy veteran having served on the USS Thurban from 1959 until 1963. He was a member of the Episcopalian Church of Rolla and the Rolla Lions Club. Sid had been a cook in the Navy as well as an iron worker. He and his wife, Darlene were owners and operators of a canoe rental in Jerome as well as running the Jerome Post Office for many years. Sid enjoyed fishing, making furniture and his mules and donkeys.

Those left to mourn the passing of Sid include: his wife, Darlene Stewart, of the home near Dixon; one son, Bill Stewart, of the state of Florida and one daughter, Brenda Wann and her husband, Joe of Newburg; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Sid was preceded in death by one son, Terry Stewart; one brother, Bob Stewart and two sisters, Betty Pope and Mary Watson.

Following Sid's wishes, the family elected cremation under the direction of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon, and will hold a private family gathering at a later date and time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Mr.  William "Sid" Stewart are suggested per the wishes of the family, with envelopes available at the funeral home or in care of the Martin-Kloeppel Funeral Home P.O. Box GG Dixon, Mo 65459
