William Franklin Stratton, of Crocker, formerly of Virginia, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014. He grew up in Williamsburg, Virginia, attended James Blair High, graduated from Central Virginia with an AAS degree in Police Science, and was a graduate of the Missouri Sheriffs' Training Academy. William was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the US Army as a door gunner with the 170th Assault Helicopter group during 1970-71. He received the National Defense Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Air Medal, as well as many other awards and medals. William retired from the Crocker Police force, Crocker, Missouri.
William was preceded in death by his father, Robert Stratton, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Lucy Stratton, one daughter, Brandy Stratton, one sister, Linda Stratton Hawkins, and three brothers, Charles Stratton, Bobby Stratton, and David Stratton.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held for William, on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 5 – 7 p.m., with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m., in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Crocker, immediately followed by military honors.
