Wilma May Stephen, 81, departed this life on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at her home in Dixon, MO. She was born July 26, 1941 in Monett, MO., the daughter of Leon and Samantha (Moore) Marbut.
Wilma was united in marriage to Leroy Jake Stephen on December 19, 1959 in Joplin, MO. and to this union, five children were born. They were married 36 years before Leroy passed away.
She was baptized as a teenager and, at the time of her passing, was a longtime member of the Sheppard Baptist Church near Dixon. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4238 and was on the board of the Maries Osage Ambulance District for over 30 years. She worked as a social worker for the Missouri Ozark Community Agency for 37 years, retiring in 2009. Wilma enjoyed crafts, crocheting, puzzles, fishing, and making Christmas candy, jellies, and jams.
She was preceded in death by her husband; father; mother; three sons, Robert, Roy, and Jake; and one sister, Frances Zimmer.
Wilma is survived by her son, Willie Stephen and wife, Carol; her daughter, Ginger Rollins and husband, Michael; daughter-in-law, Sandra Stephen; her brother, George (Ella) Marbut; sister, Caroline Johnson; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Timothy, A.J., Jessica (Andrew), William, Taylor (Aubree), Makayla (Benjamin), and Landon; 5 great-grandchildren, Abigail, Lane, Aleena, Jacob, Justin, and two expected in the very near future, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 p.m., Friday, October 7, 2022 and from 9 - 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 with the funeral following at 10 a.m. Location is at the Sheppard Baptist Church, 14281 Cardinal Road, Dixon, Missouri 65459. Interment will be in the Sheppard Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested by the family to go to the Sheppard Baptist Church, Sheppard Cemetery, or to the VFW Post # 4238 with envelopes at the church or the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
