Obituary

Winnie Louise (King) Prewett, age 92, of Rolla, formerly of Dixon, was born on January 16, 1930, at Newburg, a daughter of Lee and Etta (Williams) King. Winnie departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior at 7:50 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2022, at Silverstone Place, Rolla.

Winnie was united in marriage on January 24, 1948, at Rolla, to Muriel Ford Prewett and to this union, four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ford on May 14, 2007; her parents, Lee and Etta; four brothers, Densil King, Dorsey King, Bill King and Claude King and one sister, Wilma (King) Crane.

Winnie was baptized early in life and was known for her love for the Lord and her concern and care for others, which continued into her final years. Throughout the years, Winnie was a faithful prayer warrior for her family and friends. Winnie provided childcare from her home in Dixon for over 30 years and gave tender care to over 100 children during that time. She was greatly loved by all the children she cared for and appreciated by their parents.

Those left to mourn the passing of Winnie include: one son and daughter-in-law, Arnold and Connie Prewett, Dixon; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Diane Eyman and Carol and Wil Purvis, all of Springfield and Sherry and Larry Perkins, Macks Creek; granddaughter, Lisa Haller and her husband, Brian of Rolla; her brother, Wendell King, Mt. Holly, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation held for Mrs. Prewett from 11 a.m. until service time at 12 noon, on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel, Dixon with Bro. Ed Davis, Rolla, officiating.

Interment in the Pisgah Cemetery near Dixon under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mrs. Prewett were Andrew Purvis, Grant Purvis, Justin Purvis, Chad Prewett, Ryan Prewett, Brett Haller, Ethan Purvis and Jake Job.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pisgah Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund with envelopes available at the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Dixon.
